Groton, Conn. (NewsNation/WTNH) — Two people walked away with non-life-threatening injuries after their twin engine plane crashed into a Groton, Connecticut home Monday night.

The plane slammed into the roof around 10:30 p.m. The plane’s fuel did not catch on fire allowing the two men in the plane and one person in the house to escape.

“It’s not something you want to respond to but there are preparations in place in the event that something like this does happen,” said Chief L.J. Fusaro, Groton Police.

Groton Police and Airport Authority are investigating what caused the incident.

The crash occurred a mile and a half from runway 5 of the Groton-New London airport, located east of New Haven.

It was lightly raining with a small amount of wind around that time so it is unclear what role weather played.

The two men on board the plane were taken to a hospital.
