LOS ANGELES (NewsNation) — The National Multi Agency Coordinating Group elevated the nation’s fire preparedness level to its highest this week. 77 large fires have burned 649,054 acres in 14 states, according to the National Interagency Fire Center.
22 new large fires were reported Tuesday. More than 16,700 firefighters and support personnel are assigned to wildfires across the country.
The number of fires and acres burned is currently below the 10-year average at this time, according to the agency.
