BEVERLY, N.J.  — A New Jersey heart transplant recipient is helping those still waiting on a donor through his organization and a new app.

James Gleason is president of Transplant Recipient International Organization, better known as TRIO.

TRIO is an independent, not-for-profit, international organization committed to improving the quality of life of transplant candidates, recipients, their families and the families of organ and tissue donors.

Through the TRIO headquarters and a network of chapters, the organization serves its members in the areas of: awareness, support, education, and advocacy.

In 1992, Gleason discovered he had a failing heart. He had a heart transplant in 1994 through a deceased donation.

In his interview with NewsNation, he explained how Roberto Cuebas’ death gave him life. He also discussed a new app called AlloCare, to be released soon, and how the technology could help patents in the care regimen.
