VISALIA, Calif. (NewsNation Now) — Journalist Ken Wayne from NewsNation affiliate KRON uses his piloting skills to help rescue animals in need by transporting them to safe locations where they can be rehabilitated and adopted into forever homes.
Wayne, an anchor for KRON’s weekday evening newscasts, formerly traveled the world as a Navy journalist, and enjoys piloting his small plane across California and the West.
His series of reports “Flying Tails” highlights his stories of rescue animals from dogs, cats, horses and even wild animals like seals and turtles.
On a recent rescue flight, Wayne’s precious cargo at 6,500 feet in the air included six dogs and four kittens.
After landing in Petaluma, California, Wayne is greeted by Shirley Zindler from Dogwood Animal Rescue. Zindler who had a surprise announcement about one of the adult dogs— she was very pregnant.
