SALT LAKE CITY (NewsNation Now) — Vice President Mike Pence and Democratic opponent Sen. Kamala Harris were asked about the role of the vice president in the first and only VP debate in Utah on Wednesday night. However, the conversation quickly turned into a discussion on the presidential candidates’ health.

Both President Donald Trump, 74 and Democratic nominee Joe Biden, 77, are the two oldest presidential nominees in history. The questions about their health have only increased with President Donald Trump’s coronavirus diagnosis.

Page asked Pence about the “misleading answers” Trump’s doctors gave to the media, asking if voters deserved to know the information.

“The care the president received at Walter Reed hospital by the White House doctors was expectational. The transparency that they practiced all along the way will continue,” said Pence. “The American people have their right to know about the health and well-being of the president and we will continue to do that.”

Harris pointed to what she described as Biden’s track record of honesty.

“Joe has been so incredibly transparent over many many years,” said Harris. “The one thing we know about Joe is that he puts it all out there. He is honest and he is forthright.”
