INDIANAPOLIS (NewsNation Now) — Vice President Mike Pence postponed plans to cast an early ballot in his home state of Indiana Friday, as President Donald Trump prepares a return to the campaign trail.

Pence and his wife Karen Pence were scheduled to participate in early voting in Indianapolis Friday afternoon, but the event has been pushed back, according to a White House release.

Marty Obst, the vice president’s senior political advisor, said the decision was not health related, but rather a scheduling issue, NewsNation affiliate WXIN reported.

The postponement comes as President Trump expressed a desire to resume campaign rallies after his physician confirmed a completion of his coronavirus treatment.

The president said he wants to try to hold a campaign rally in Florida on Saturday, as well as one the following night in Pennsylvania.

Speaking to Fox Business Thursday night, Trump said he’s feeling “perfect.”

“I think I’m better to the point where I’d love to do a rally tonight,” Trump said, later adding, “I don’t think I’m contagious at all.”

The president has not been  seen in public — other than in White House-produced videos — since his Monday return from the Walter Reed military hospital where he received experimental treatments for the virus.

Trump said he expects to take another COVID-19 test on Friday.

The Associated Press, Reuters and NewsNation affiliate WXIN contributed to this story.
