Brooke Shafer joined the NewsNation team in May 2022 as a Miami-based correspondent.
Born and raised in Miami, Brooke is thrilled to continue telling stories in her home state.
Before joining NewsNation, Brooke was a reporter and anchor for WFOR in Miami. In her time there, she covered major breaking news, including the Surfside condo collapse, where Brooke was one of the first reporters on the scene. Her coverage of the deadly collapse earned her an Emmy nomination and was featured in a CBS News special report, on the CBS News streaming network, and on BBC radio.
Before returning to South Florida, Brooke also worked as an Anchor and Reporter for both WCJB in Gainesville and WINK in Fort Myers.
In her years of reporting, Brooke has traveled the state of Florida covering major stories like the Parkland mass shooting, the arrest of Roger Stone, and several hurricanes.
She graduated from Florida State University. When she’s not working, Brooke loves spending time with her family.
