(NewsNation) — Just 4 in 10 Black Americans say that the issues most important to them are covered often in the outlets they get news from — and that figure is lower for Asians and Hispanics, according to a Pew Research Center survey.

The survey echoes a broader Pew study that found Black Americans say they’re covered more negatively than other racial and ethnic groups in the U.S.

About 40% of Black Americans surveyed by Pew said it’s important for them to keep up with government and politics. Fifteen percent said the same about entertainment, pop culture and sports.

Among the issues most important to Black Americans were health care (66%), crime (58%), economy and jobs (57%) and education (54%).

Even fewer Asians and Hispanics believe the news covers issues that matter most to them.

Only 37% of Hispanics and 38% of Asians in the U.S. said the issues most important to them are often covered in the outlets they receive news.

Overall, less than 50% of U.S. adults believe the issues critical to them are being covered.

White Americans have a slightly more favorable view, but only my a slim majority of 54%.
