JONESBORO, Ark. – The Jonesboro Police Department is singing the praises of an officer who rescued a child from a frozen pond.

In a social media post, officials with the JPD congratulated Officer Troy Ellison who responded to a call about a child falling through the ice of a frozen pond.

A video posted to the JPD’s Facebook page shows Ellison acting quickly to rescue the child.

Ellison was able to pull the child to safety with the help of Lt. Shon Morris and members of the Jonesboro Fire Department.

The child was taken to a local hospital to be checked for any cold weather injuries.
