(NewsNation) — The security plan for Las Vegas’ first time hosting the Super Bowl has been in the works for about a year.

However, in an unexpected development, a record number of private jets are descending on the city ahead of the game. Clark County expects more than 1,000 private jets this weekend, and about half will have to drop off since there’s only room for parking for about 500 of them.

With such a massive gathering of high rollers, Customs and Border Protection (CBP) is among the dozens of agencies on duty.

“We’re the eye in the sky essentially,” said CBP officer Doug Murray. “We won’t be landing and dealing with any kind of threat, we’re going to be talking on the radio, getting ground forces to those areas. So as quickly as the ground forces can get to an area we’re identifying those threats.”

Law enforcement will also be on the lookout for victims of human trafficking as the Super Bowl is among the top events in which people fall victim.

Signs of Hope, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting survivors of sexual violence and human trafficking, has joined forces with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department to address the anticipated surge in human trafficking during the Super Bowl festivities.

During a news conference on Super Bowl safety last week, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas outlined efforts to train Lyft drivers to identify potential trafficking victims. “This outreach will ultimately help teach 1 million Lyft drivers key indicators that a rider may be a victim of human trafficking,” Mayorkas said.
