LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — An autopsy report on the death of a 17-year-old Las Vegas student shows he died as a result of multiple blunt force trauma to the head, neck and torso.

NewesNation affiliate KLAS obtained the report on the death of Jonathan Lewis, who was a senior at Rancho High School at the time. According to the Clark County Coroner’s office, the injuries Lewis suffered led to a severe brain injury. His death was ruled a homicide.

Several teenagers assaulted Lewis on Nov. 1, 2023, at an alley near Rancho High School, according to the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. The fight was allegedly over a stolen marijuana vape pen and headphones.

Lewis was pronounced dead on Nov. 7, several days after the beating. His organs were donated.

The autopsy report says Lewis had a history of mental health issues but doesn’t list that as a cause for his death.

Nine teenagers, all Rancho High School students, were arrested in connection to the murder.

Four of the accusers in the Clark County Juvenile Justice System agreed to guilty plea deals, avoiding prison in the adult system. The rest still have cases pending in court.
