What happened to Riley Strain?
Strain was in Nashville for what the university said was a fraternity conference. He was last seen by friends when he was kicked out of Luke Bryan’s bar at about 9:30 p.m. for being overserved. A friend said he tried to go with Strain but security stopped him.
He was at the bar with fraternity brothers from the Delta Chi fraternity and his friends said they got separated and lost sight of him.
They were unable to find him using his location on Snapchat and his phone went straight to voicemail. Strain was also not found at the group’s hotel.
While Strain told friends he would see them back at the hotel, his phone location pinged in the opposite direction.
Strain’s mother said she and her son talked every day and it’s not typical for him to fail to communicate. She was receiving messages him Friday night before he disappeared.
“He and his buddy were having a good time and he just wanted to show me that he was having a good time,” Michelle Whiteid told NewsNation’s Markie Martin.
The Search for Riley Strain
Police in Nashville have checked hospitals and jails with no luck and attempts to use his phone to find him as failed as it appears to have died.
The search has involved drones, helicopters and ground searchers in the area near the Cumberland river. Boats are also being used to search the river for any sign of Strain.
The family is also in contact with Apple, in hopes of using Strain’s Apple Watch to pinpoint his location.
The released surveillance videos are the latest attempt by authorities to trace Strain’s path after he left the bar.
Strain is 6’7″ with a thin build, brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a shirt with black and brown patches on it the night he was last seen. Anyone with information should call 615-862-8600.
