ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (DC News Now) — The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said it was looking into a near collision that took place between two airliners early Thursday morning.

The FAA said the incident involved Southwest Airlines Flight 2937 and JetBlue Flight 1554 at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA).

The administration said that an air traffic controller told the Southwest plane to cross Runway 4 while the JetBlue flight was starting its takeoff roll on the same runway.

The incident took place around 7:40 a.m.

A spokesperson for JetBlue said no injuries were reported and its aircraft was inspected before it took off for Boston.

“Safety is JetBlue’s first priority, and we will work closely with federal officials as this event is fully investigated,” the JetBlue spokesperson stated in an email to DC News Now.

Southwest Airlines said it was aware of the incident and was working with the FAA.
