Arrest made in attack on actor Steve Buscemi in NYC: sources
KIPS BAY, Manhattan (PIX11) – Police have arrested a suspect accused of punching actor Steve Buscemi in the face on the street in New York City last week, sources said Friday.
The NYPD previously identified 50-year-old Clifton Williams as the suspect in the case.
Buscemi was punched on Third Avenue near East 27th Street in Kips Bay, Manhattan, around 11:45 a.m. on May 8, police said.
The 66-year-old actor suffered bruising, swelling and bleeding to his left eye, authorities said. Buscemi was treated at a hospital after the incident and is doing OK, according to his publicist.
“Steve Buscemi was assaulted in Mid-Town Manhattan, another victim of a random act of violence in the city,” Buscemi’s publicist said in a statement earlier this week. “He is ok and appreciates everyone’s well wishes.”
The NYPD previously released surveillance images of the suspect who was sought in the case.
