Reform Party helps RFK Jr. get on the ballot in Florida
- Robert F. Kennedy Jr. initially entered the race as a Democrat
- He has appeal with voters on both sides of the aisle
- His polling falls far behind Trump and Biden in a three-way race
(NewsNation) — As independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. continues his quest to make it on the ballot in all 50 states and Washington, D.C., and qualify for the upcoming presidential debates, he’s now succeeded in Florida.
The Reform Party of the United States has nominated Kennedy as its presidential candidate, allowing him to appear on the Florida ballot. He is hoping to peel voters away from both President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump, with a platform that includes a mix of positions appealing to voters on both sides of the aisle.
He asked the Reform Party for help in his effort to qualify in all states. The party defines itself as a moderate, centrist party founded in 1996 by supporters of independent candidate Ross Perot, who ran for the presidency in 1992.
“He has more energy than Joe Biden and more maturity than Donald Trump. The Reform Party aligns with him better on the issues than we do with the establishment politicians. We are sure that he will be the next President of the United States,” Reform Party Convention Secretary Richard Kasa said in a news release.
In a news release, the party said “polls show that Kennedy would beat both Trump and Biden in head-to-head races.” However, in general polling, Kennedy is falling far behind both mainstream candidates, with an average of recent polling putting him at 8.6%, compared to Trump’s 41.5% and Biden’s 40.2%.
Kennedy is also negotiating with CNN, the host of the upcoming presidential debate June 27, arguing that he qualifies for the debate while the network says Biden and Trump are currently the only candidates who are eligible.
