WWE Hall of Famer, father of Roman Reigns dies
(WKBN/NEXSTAR) – A WWE Hall of Famer and the father of one of the most well-known current WWE stars has died at the age of 79.
Sika Anoa’i, the father of Roman Reigns and one half of The Wild Samoans tag team, passed away on Tuesday, according to his family.
A statement posted to Instagram by his nephew, Jahrus Anoa’i, reads:
It is with profound sadness that I share the news of the passing of WWE Hall of Famer, Polaivao Leati Sika Anoa’i. He passed away peacefully on June 25th. Sika was a celebrated figure whose contributions and legacy have left an indelible mark. His memory will live on through his achievements and the many lives he touched.
He was many things: a hard working father, a caring brother, a supportive uncle, and a proud grandfather. He was a cherished friend to many, a loving family member whose warmth and kindness knew no bounds, and an inspiration to countless individuals. His legacy will continue to inspire and uplift future generations, reminding us of the impact one person’s life can have on so many. Rest in love Uncle Sika
Sika and his brother Afa were WWE Tag Team champions during separate stints in the 1980s.
“WWE is saddened to learn that Sika Anoa’i, a WWE Hall of Famer, one-half of The Wild Samoans tag team and father of Roman Reigns, has passed away,” the WWE said in a statement. “WWE extends its condolences to Anoa’i’s family, friends and fans.”
Sika is the father of current WWE star Roman Reigns (real name Joseph Anoa’i) and late WWE professional wrestler Rosey (real name Matt Anoa’i). Matt Anoai’i passed away in 2017 at 47 years old.
Afa and Sika last appeared in WWE with Roman Reigns in 2020.
Both Afa and Sika were inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007.
