Two teens charged with first-degree murder in Memphis crime spree

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A 13-year-old and an 18-year-old went on a crime spree that left a man dead last month, according to Memphis Police.

On July 2, officers responded to an auto theft. At around 2 a.m., a 2018 Kia Sorento was stolen from the parking lot.

At 4:32 a.m., there was a shooting at Love’s. A man was found and pronounced dead on the scene.

At 5:25 a.m., there was a robbery at the Exxon gas station. Three armed suspects approached the victims and took several items. They then fled in a red Kia Sorento.

At 11:50 p.m., officers responded to a robber. Two armed suspects approached the victims and took several items, fleeing in a red Kia Sorento.

On July 4, officers found two males inside the Kia Sorento.

The car reportedly circled the area. Officers initiated a traffic stop, but both suspects fled on foot, and the passenger threw a handgun as he ran.

Both suspects were taken into custody.

A 13-year-old male was charged with First Degree Murder in the Perpetration of an Aggravated Robbery, two counts of Aggravated Robbery, and Theft of Property $10,000-$60,000.

Vontavious Muirhead, 18, was charged with First Degree Murder in the Perpetration of an Aggravated Robbery, two counts of Aggravated Robbery, and Theft of Property $10,000-$60,000.
