GREEN BAY, Wis. (WFRV) – Wedding day can be stressful for all involved, and while typically things go as planned, there can be a bump in the road.

A local couple’s wedding day was nearly ruined last week when power went out at Green Bay’s Pamperin Park, where the couple was holding their reception.

But instead of darkness, Wisconsin Public Service came to save the day. Employees Mark Lardo and Andrew Peot quickly rerouted power around a transformer that had been damaged by a lawnmower at the park.

Family members were nearly finished setting up Pamperin Park’s dance hall for the wedding when the lawnmower hit the transformer, knocking out the venue’s power. The wedding party was fearful that the outage would prevent them from keeping food warm, refreshments cold, and music from being played at the reception.

Thanks to Lardo and Peot, they were able to restore power to the dance hall before the wedding party and most guests arrived. Their quick actions allowed the newly married couple to host their reception and celebrate with family and friends throughout the night.
