SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The Sioux City Explorers’ bus caught on fire while they were traveling to a road game.

According to a Facebook post from Sioux City Explorers pitcher and Iowa State Representative J.D. Scholten, the Sioux City Explorers’ bus caught on fire at around 3 a.m. Friday morning while traveling to Kane County.

Scholten added that everyone was safe but a few items on board, such as gloves, hats, a pillow, and even a PS5 were damaged in the fire.

“We are relieved to report that everyone involved in the recent bus fire is safe and unharmed,” Sioux City Explorers Manager Steve Montgomery said.

“The safety of our players and staff is our top priority, and we are thankful that no one was injured in this incident.

“We are working closely with authorities to determine the cause of the fire and ensure that all necessary steps are taken to prevent future incidents.

“We appreciate the support and concern from our fans and the community during this time. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available. Thank you for your understanding.”

Scholten added that they were able to get on a new bus at around 5:45 a.m.
