Chiefs’ Chris Jones offers to pay $1.5M for chicken wings woman stole from school
HARVEY, Ill. — A south suburban Illinois school worker convicted for stealing $1.5 million worth of chicken wings from the school district is getting some love from a NFL star.
Vera Liddell is serving nine years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to stealing $1.5 million worth of food, mainly chicken wings.
She was the food service director for Harvey School District 152.
Cook County prosecutors accused her of stealing massive amounts of food meant for take-home meals for students learning remotely during the pandemic.
On Tuesday, Kansas City Chiefs Defensive Tackle Chris Jones posted to “X” offering to “pay for the wings that she stole to get her free,” in a bid to get Liddell out of prison.
While nice to have football star in her corner, the criminal justice system will not allow for her release.
