(NewsNation) — Katy Perry is having a bad year, and it could be because of a curse put on her by nuns six years ago.

Katy Perry has her ‘biggest flop yet’

Perry is in turmoil as her first studio album in years, “143,” was full of bombs, including the single “Woman’s World,” which not only flopped but was castigated by critics as her “biggest flop yet,” and “Lifetimes” has also left people unimpressed.

Then news came this week that authorities in Spain were investigating Perry and her production company for illegally shooting the “Lifetimes” video on protected dunes.

“In no case had the production company requested authorization from the Regional Ministry to carry out the filming,” according to a government news release.

And now word is spreading that Perry is a victim of a “curse” leveled on her by nuns six years ago.

Was Katy Perry cursed after nun lawsuit?

Back in 2018, Perry sued a group of nuns when she purchased a Los Angeles convent from the archdiocese … but the nuns living there didn’t want to sell to her and claimed they, not the archdiocese, owned the convent.

During the legal battle, which Perry eventually won, 89-year-old Sister Catherine Rose Holzman died on the stand after telling Fox News: “You have stolen the property of the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart. Please archbishop… Do what is right in your heart… To Katy Perry, please stop. It’s not doing anyone any good except hurting a lot of people.”

Since then, she has not had commercial success. As one writer on X said: “Since that nun died in court fighting Katy Perry acquiring her convent to turn into her mansion, Katy Perry not only has just had bad karma, but bizarro bad karma.”

Not that karma or the fear of it has stopped Perry from getting what she wants.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom sued veteran

Last year, Perry and her husband, Orlando Bloom, sued veteran Carl Westcott, 83, for his Montecito home.

Wescott claimed that he did not remember selling his home to the couple as he was on opioids and painkillers. The vet, who has Huntington’s disease (which causes neurological damage and dementia), says he bought the beachfront home to live out the remainder of his days … but late last year, the courts sided with Perry and Bloom … effectively kicking Westcott, who is now in full dementia, out.

The case inspired a California law to be enacted, dubbed the “Katy Perry Law,” in which elderly people have a 72-hour lookback period after they sell their home.
