NATCHITOCHES, La. (KTAL/KMSS)—Schools are announcing safety preparations and planned closures in anticipation of Tropical Storm Francine’s landfall Wednesday.

Northwestern State University (NSU) announced they will close on Wednesday, September 11 and plan to reopen on Thursday, September 12.

“We understand that many of our students come from regions in South and Central Louisiana that may be directly impacted by the storm. Please know that the safety of our students is our top priority,” said NSU President James Genovese.

Residents halls will remain open, and dining services will continue with a modified schedule. Additional details about dining services will be communicated directly to residential students.

Essential personnel will be on campus to ensure safety and security of the NSU community. All Wednesday events will be rescheduled for a later date. Stay informed with updates as they are provided by monitoring NSU’s social media and website.
