More than 85,000 Tampa Bay area residents still without power from Hurricane Helene
TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — More than 85,000 Tampa Bay area residents were without power Saturday night as Hurricane Helene passed through Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Hurricane Helene made landfall in Florida’s Big Bend region on Thursday night, according to the National Hurricane Center.
The NHC reported that Helene had maximum sustained winds of 140 and was located 65 miles west of Cedar Key while moving north-northeast at 24 mph.
It made landfall at the mouth of the Aucilla River at 11:20 p.m.
Tampa Electric Company
As of 11:08 p.m. Saturday, 6,775 customers have reported power outages.

Duke Energy said restoration efforts would resume after conditions improve.

- Citrus: 522 customers
- Hernando: 57 customers
- Pasco: 7,776 customers
