PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man was arrested and accused of murdering two people following a fatal shooting at a cannabis dispensary in Portland’s St. Johns Neighborhood last week.
On Wednesday, 34-year-old Gresham resident Jason R. Steiner turned himself in to authorities and was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center, Portland police said.
The shooting on Oct. 3 happened after an armed robbery of the store by three people, officials said.
“Steiner was an employee of the cannabis retailer,” the Portland Police Bureau said in a release.
On the night of the shooting, responding officers found two people dead at the La Mota dispensary on North St. Louis Avenue.
Police said one person believed to be involved remained at the scene and cooperated. On Wednesday, police said they were still looking for a third robbery suspect.
The victims in the shooting were identified as two Milwaukie residents: 18-year-old King H. Lawrence and 20-year-old Tahir D. Burley.
Steiner is being charged with two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of unlawful use of a weapon.
The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is encouraged to contact Portland police.
