MUSTANG, Okla. (KFOR) — When you take your car to the car wash, you expect it to come out looking pristine, but an Oklahoma retiree says his car now has thousands of dollars in damage he isn’t sure he can afford to fix.

He also says the car wash isn’t helping.

A retired veteran dealing with a multitude of health problems doesn’t need more stress added on to his plate.

He says he tried taking care of the issue himself over the course of a month, but never got any help. So, he turned to NewsNation affiliate KFOR hoping for a resolution.

“It was just banging on the side of the car, shaking us around,” said Greg Woods, whose car was damaged at Okie Express Car Wash. “You know, we didn’t know what was going on.”

A club membership holder at Okie Express Car Wash is now dealing with the aftermath of a wash gone wrong.

“This one side, passenger side is just devastated from bumper to bumper,” Woods said.

He says the machines inside the car wash started swinging and hitting his SUV with force, leaving behind scratches and dents. Even some of the paneling ripped off.

“I got estimates going from $9,000-$15,000, and that is with insurance, that’s a deducted amount,” Woods said. “I’m like, oh man, this is nuts.”

Woods says he reached out to Okie Express multiple times.

“They won’t call, they won’t return email, nothing,” Woods said.

That is why he turned to KFOR. So, the station went to the car wash in Mustang.

A manager said he couldn’t give us contact information for his bosses, only telling KFOR to reach out online.

KFOR reached out to representatives with Okie Express Car Wash, who sent us the following statement:

At Okie Express Auto Wash, we take customer concerns, as well as the quality and safety of our services, very seriously. We are actively working to resolve this matter and have been in communication with the customer regarding their claim.

Woods says he has KFOR to thank for kick starting some communication, and hopes a resolution is coming.

“You know, the disappointment, because I like going there and taking all my vehicles there for years,” Woods said. “No more, not me. I learned my lesson.”

Woods contacted KFOR on Wednesday night and said the car wash company reached out to him and said they will cover the cost of the damages.

KFOR plans to follow up with Woods.
