Elina Shirazi

Elina Shirazi is a Washington correspondent for NewsNation. 

Previously, she served as a reporter for WJLA-TV (ABC-7) in Washington, D.C. Prior to that, Ms. Shirazi spent four years in Florida reporting for FOX News Channel in Miami and their affiliate in Orlando.

During her tenure at the network, she was on the campaign trail for the 2020 election, often catching planes, chasing presidential candidates, and covering international news.

She also reported on the historic COVID-19 pandemic that gripped the nation. One of her first stories during the pandemic was exposing Iran’s censorship of COVID-19 deaths inside the country, where she obtained exclusive access to hospital staff. Additionally, Ms. Shirazi regularly covered stories about space and technology at FOX Orlando, reporting on both crewed and uncrewed launches, including America’s return to the moon. She started her career at DCW50, an affiliate of Nexstar.

Ms. Shirazi has also reported in multiple hurricanes, including recovery efforts during hurricane Michael and Dorian. One her favorite experiences was covering the Super Bowl LIV in Miami.

Ms. Shirazi obtained her degree in broadcast journalism and international business at American University in Washington, D.C. As a proud child of Iranian immigrants, she speaks fluent Farsi. She is also fluent in Spanish.
