Kamath leads digital news coverage for News Nation in her role as Managing Editor. Along with overseeing daily digital news coverage, she also works with digital reporters to take a unique, unbiased approach to covering the news of the day. As an accredited Solutions Journalism trainer, she leads the network’s solutions initiative, aimed at elevating solutions to some of the nation’s most pressing issues.
Kamath is an award-winning journalist who came to News Nation in early 2022, after spending her career in local TV, print, and digital-only news outlets around the country. Before News Nation, Kamath was on the founding team of Lookout Santa Cruz, helping to launch the digital-only news startup in November 2020 as its Managing Editor.
She cut her teeth at KTUU in Alaska as a Digital and TV producer, reporting on everything from a 7.1 magnitude earthquake to the annual Iditarod sled dog race across the state. At the Houston Chronicle, she was a member of the 2017 Pulitzer-finalist team for breaking news for coverage of the devastation of Hurricane Harvey.
In 2019, Kamath was a recipient of the South Asian Journalists Association Fellowship to cover immigration issues faced by South Asian women in the U.S. In May 2020, while balancing daily COVID-19 pandemic coverage, she published a 12-part series detailing the plight of more than 100,000 Indian women who were stuck in limbo as a result of American immigration laws.
