(NewsNation) — University of Idaho killing suspect Bryan Kohberger will likely be segregated from inmates at the Ada County Jail, according to the president of the American Jail Association.

Shawn Laughlin told NewsNation’s “Banfield” on Monday that Kohberger probably won’t even see most of the prison facility, given the charges he’s facing.

Kohberger “probably believes he’s going to have a more enjoyable stay there,” Laughlin said. “But the simple fact is, given his charges and notoriety, he’s never ever gonna see most of that facility.”

Kohberger was recently transported from Moscow, Idaho, to Boise, where he will be tried on charges of killing four University of Idaho students in 2022.

Boise is nearly 300 miles from Moscow, where the alleged slayings of the four students took place. Kohberger will be held at the jail until his trial begins in June of 2025. He is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of burglary.

Ex-inmate Larry Levine, founder of Wall Street Prison Consultants, advised Kohbereger to “keep his mouth shut” in his new prison.

“The number one thing somebody should do when you get to a new facility: Keep your ears open and your mouth shut,” Levine said on “Banfield.” “Nobody really wants to hear what you have to say.”
