(WJW) – Gypsy Rose Blanchard, who was released from a Missouri prison in December of 2023 after serving eight years, announced her pregnancy on YouTube Tuesday

Blanchard spent the better part of the last decade in prison after admitting in court to asking her ex-boyfriend Nicholas Godejohn to kill her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard, who experts say likely suffered from Munchausen Syndrome by proxy.

“Well…the rumors are true! Ken and I are so excited to start our family together and I can’t wait to share my journey with you here on YouTube and my other social media platforms. Thank you for all your support so far and I can’t wait to see our family grow,” she said in the caption of the video

Blanchard posted the video Tuesday saying she and her boyfriend, Ken, are expecting their first child in January of 2025. She is currently 11 weeks pregnant.

“We’re both very excited,” Blanchard said. “This was not planned at all, it was completely unexpected, but we’re both very excited to take on this new journey of parenthood.”

Blanchard said that she has experienced some pregnancy symptoms such as craving orange juice and what she describes as “crazy” mood swings.

“Pregnancy is not easy with the mood swings and (Ken) has been very gracious about it,” she said. “He’s been very forgiving about it, but good Lord.”

She said the baby is healthy, and although she has a long journey ahead, she’s “up for it.”

“I know that there are going to be people who feel like I’m not ready to be a mother,” she told her viewers. “I don’t know if anyone’s really ready to become a mother. I feel a shift in myself. When I found out that I was pregnant, none of anything else mattered.”

She said all that matters to her now is her and her baby’s health and keeping a healthy relationship with Ken.

“It’s an amazing feeling when your whole world shifts and suddenly it’s not about you it’s not about anything other than the tiny little life that’s inside you. “You are now in charge of protecting and that little tiny life.”

While getting emotional, Blanchard said she wants to be everything her mother wasn’t.

Blanchard ended the video by saying, “I’m okay with everything that has ever happened to me and in my life. (It) suddenly doesn’t matter because it all led me to be who I am today and it all led me to this moment right, here right now, and that’s a blessing. To say that I made it, that’s a success story.”
