Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs accuser’s attorney reacts to indictment
- Diddy denied bail, remains in custody after indictment
- Combs was arrested Monday in New York City
- Music mogul accused of sexual misconduct in civil lawsuits
(NewsNation) — Ariel Mitchell-Kidd, attorney for Sean “Diddy” Combs accuser Adria English, tells NewsNation’s Ashleigh Banfield that Diddy’s indictment is “one step closer to justice being served.
“We knew it was a matter of when, not if, he was going to be arrested,” Mitchell-Kidd said Tuesday on “Banfield.” “Having bail denied was a big step.”
Mitchell-Kidd said she predicted Diddy wouldn’t be given bail, “given his status in the world.”
Federal prosecutors Tuesday unsealed an indictment against Combs alleging he abused, threatened and coerced women to fulfill his sexual desires. He pleaded not guilty in court Tuesday afternoon.
A judge denied bail for music mogul Diddy, saying, “There has been significant violence, and weapons around. Also coercion of witnesses, even gentle coercion, can be effective. The type of behavior we’re talking about happens behind closed doors ,,, I cannot release him.”
Diddy’s defense said they will appeal the decision to hold the rapper without bail. The next hearing is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET Wednesday at the same courtroom.
