(NewsNation) — The death of Texas mother Giselle Tapia-Salazar, who was found dead hanging from a dock, is being reinvestigated as a homicide.

Investigators believe the 30-year-old mother of four was positioned to make it look like she had died by suicide, and police have now identified two persons of interest in the case, according to multiple reports.

Tapia-Salazar’s body was found in League City, Texas, hanging from a rope near the boat she was living on with her boyfriend James Hart.

NewsNation national correspondent Alex Caprariello spoke with Hart, who said he’s heartbroken and had nothing to do with her death.

“I found myself in the middle of this thing, but I literally have nothing to hide,” Hart said. “I had nothing to do with this. I’m telling the truth.”

Caprariello spoke with police and confirmed that Hart is being investigated as a person of interest and that there is a history of reported domestic violence between the couple. Hart continues to cooperate with the police.

Behavioral analyst Scott Rouse joined “Banfield” on Friday night to discuss whether Hart’s interview signaled grief of guilt.

“It doesn’t seem rehearsed or structured to me,” Rouse said. “My gut says keep an eye on him, but there’s nothing definitive here that points to ‘that’s the guy that did it.'”

Caprariello also spoke with Christian Allen, the neighbor who found Tapia-Salazar’s body.

“I went and woke up her boyfriend James. … He kept saying, ‘She just went to the bathroom. Everything is fine.'”
