Starbucks’ Pumpkin Spice Latte is back for the 17th year, earlier than ever
It’s not fall yet, but fan favorite Pumpkin Spice Latte is back Aug. 25 at Starbucks locations in the U.S. and Canada.
“Every time a PSL is sipped, a leaf gets its orange,” tweeted the company, acknowledging the signature espresso and steamed milk drink flavored with the combination of pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove is synonymous with fall.
But each year, the anticipated release date encroaches more into summer. In 2019, the release date was Aug. 27.
Created in 2003, the beverage was a hit within the first week of market testing. The creators originally planned to call it fall harvest latte but decided against it. PSL is the beverage’s abbreviated code written by baristas on cups during ordering that has become ubiquitous among the drink’s devotees.
There are a slew of menu options rolled out for “all the fall feels” including pumpkin cream cold brew, pumpkin scone, pumpkin cream cheese muffin and pumpkin bread.
For the true enthusiast, Starbucks is offering a hot line to “fall into the season” regardless of your abode’s climate. For a limited time, by calling 1-833-GET-FALL customers can enjoy listening to the sounds of a crackling fire, hayride through a pumpkin patch and latte-inspired meditations.
