ALTON, Ill. — An Illinois Lottery player hit the big one and won a whopping $10 million jackpot.
According to a release, the person is the first to win the $10 million top prize on the Illinois Lottery’s $50 scratch-off ticket, “10 Million.”
The ticket was purchased at Casey’s convenience store, located at 3499 Fosterburg Road, in Alton.
“Something about the $10 Million game was sticking out to me,” explained the lucky winner, who has requested to stay anonymous. “I wasn’t in a hurry to scratch it off, I waited until I got home. You could say, ‘I never in “10 million” years thought I’d win the top prize!’,” they laughed.
When asked what they plan to do with the money, the new millionaire said they plan to start a college for their daughter and buy a bigger house with more garage space for their vintage car hobby.
“Ultimately, I want to save the majority of this prize money and invest it. The most important thing is to enjoy life with our family, and help provide for our kids and hopefully later in life, our future grandkids.”
The convenience store will receive a selling bonus of one percent of the prize amount, or $100,000.
