(NewsNation) — A benefit check will not arrive for Social Security Supplemental Security Income (SSI) recipients in September.

The reason relates to Sept. 1 falling on a Sunday, meaning checks were sent on Friday, Aug. 30.

Checks are widely received on the first of each month but approximately 7.5 million who receive SSI payments will have to pivot this month.

Per Social Security data, individuals receiving SSI are eligible for a maximum monthly payment of $943; a $29 monthly increase from 2023.

Those receiving retirement benefits average $1,907 a month. Those who qualify will receive their payments as usual.

Roughly 75% of benefits recipients are retired workers; receiving an average monthly check of $1,918 as of June.

Almost 68 million people will receive a Social Security benefit each month through 2024.
