CHICAGO — It was another deadly holiday weekend in Chicago, with dozens shot across the city since Saturday.

More than 30 have fallen victim to gun violence over the last few days, including a 5-year-old girl who was fatally shot on the Near West Side early Sunday morning.

On Saturday, at least 11 people were shot across the city and the number rose to 18 by Sunday.

Among Sunday’s incidents was a South Side shooting that left two people injured and a third dead.

On Monday, three shootings unfolded before 9 a.m. At least two of them were deadly and claimed the lives of two men.

Because of the holiday, CPD has not yet released crime statistics for the weekend, but currently, shootings are down 8% compared to last year’s numbers, homicides have dropped by 17%, and overall crime has fallen 12%
