(NewsNation) —Rapper Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is producing a docuseries based on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sex trafficking and abuse allegations which is set to air on Netflix.
Jackson confirmed the project on his Instagram account Wednesday.
“I been telling y’all about all this weird s**t, I don’t do NO puffy party’s,” Jackson wrote in the caption. “You didn’t believe me 🤨but I bet you believe me now!,”
The series is still under production and will be directed by Alexandria Stapleton, reported Variety.
“This is a story with significant human impact. It is a complex narrative spanning decades, not just the headlines or clips seen so far,” Jackson and Stapleton said in a statement to Variety.
“We remain steadfast in our commitment to give a voice to the voiceless and to present authentic and nuanced perspectives. While the allegations are disturbing, we urge all to remember that Sean Combs’ story is not the full story of hip-hop and its culture. We aim to ensure that individual actions do not overshadow the culture’s broader contributions.”
Jackson had previously announced that he would be undertaking the docuseries last year.
He has been a long rival of Combs and has been one of the most high-profile individuals speaking out against him about alleged abuse as more victims came forward.
Combs was arrested and indicted in Manhattan last week and is facing federal charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Department of Homeland Security agents conducted the raids March 25 at Combs’ multimillion-dollar mansion in Los Angeles and his Miami waterfront home.
Prosecutors laid out the case against Combs in a grand jury indictment. He is accused of using his music empire to engage in sex trafficking and accused of having a pattern of abusing women.
Following his arrest, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, issued a statement asking the public to reserve judgment until all the facts are in and noting that Combs has cooperated with the investigation.
“Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs is a music icon, self-made entrepreneur, loving family man, and proven philanthropist who has spent the last 30 years building an empire, adoring his children, and working to uplift the Black community. He is an imperfect person but he is not a criminal,” Agnifilo said.
Combs also faces a mounting list of civil lawsuits that allege abuse and sexual assault by multiple victims spanning over 30 years.
Jackson said he was the right producer for the documentary because not only is he the only person in hip-hop culture to have produced hit TV, but because he was not involved with Combs and his parties, he told US Weekly in an interview earlier this year.
“Some of the people who have been around in the culture who are not saying anything — that’s because they’ve been to the parties, (and) they don’t know what part of their experiences are on tape,” Jackson told US Weekly. “So, it keeps them quiet and it looks like I’m the only guy, but I’ve been (saying) for years that something’s not right.”
