(NewsNation) — Casey Anthony has joined TikTok, where she has labeled herself a legal advocate. An attorney for her parents has called her social media presence “a bunch of BS.”
Anthony was acquitted on charges of killing her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee. In 2008, Caylee was reported missing by her grandparents. Anthony initially said she’d left her daughter with a nanny who disappeared, but investigators found holes in her story.
Months later, Caylee’s skeletal remains were found in a blanket inside a laundry bag in the woods. Anthony was charged with her murder, and prosecutors alleged Anthony used chloroform to subdue her daughter and put duct tape over her nose and mouth, suffocating her.
Anthony’s defense team argued Caylee had accidentally drowned in a pool and that Anthony’s father had covered up the death. Anthony would later claim she was sexually abused by her father as a child, which he has denied.

The case attracted significant media attention, and much of the public sentiment went against Anthony. Now, she has joined the social media app TikTok, where she has labeled herself a legal advocate and has said she is advocating for her daughter.
Anthony family lawyer speaks out
Brad Conway represented her parents, George and Cindy Anthony, during the case. He joined NewsNation to discuss Anthony’s foray into social media.
“She’s the perpetual victim,” Conway said of Casey Anthony. “But she’s always out there, pitching her own story, her own sad story.”
He said her latest step into the public eye is all about money. Anthony has struggled to find employment due to her infamy, he said, and is maybe hoping a new generation less familiar with her story may give her the benefit of the doubt.

Conway told NewsNation that being a legal advocate requires experience and knowledge that Casey doesn’t have.
“Nobody wants legal advice from somebody who can only offer them advice on how to hide a body and make up ridiculous lies about how it got there,” Conway said. “What does she have to offer you in terms of actual, credible legal advice, and then, who’s going to take her seriously?”
In a video, Anthony said the account is not about her parents but suggested she would comment on things her parents have done.
Conway said he believes Anthony is playing on people’s curiosity about what happened within the family.
“People want to know what really happened to Caylee Anthony. … She blamed her father, criminally implicated him in the death of her daughter,” he said. “She makes sure to let you know she might address it, and that’s what brings people in because that’s what they want to know.”

Conway said Anthony has little to offer the public.
“What does she have to offer? Nothing other than the truth,” Conway said. “We know Casey Anthony is not capable of telling the truth.”
