WARREN, R.I. (WPRI) — A 32-year-old man was arrested after allegedly sexually assaulting a resident under his care at Grace Barker Nursing Home in Warren, Rhode Island.
Erick Sajche Meza has been charged with second-degree sexual assault and his nursing assistant license has been suspended.
Officers were called to the nursing home on July 4 for a sexual assault complaint. Officials met with a social worker who said a 76-year-old woman reported a CNA had touched her inappropriately.
According to police, the victim identified the CNA worker as a man named “Erick” from the ID he was wearing. Police were then able to determine Sajche Meza was the worker.
The victim continued to say Sajche Meza entered her room during the nighttime rounds and assisted her roommate, according to police.
During this time, the victim said Sajche Meza got on top of her and simulated having sex with her and would not stop when she asked him to.
The victim said he was fully clothed, but the privacy curtain was drawn, which prevented her roommate from seeing anything.
According to police, surveillance video shows Sajche Meza conducting his rounds during the overnight hours and is seen entering the victim’s room and leaving a short time later.
Police said the facility conducts cognitive tests quarterly on their residents and the victim scored very highly. She had been questioned about the incident multiple times and police said her story remained consistent.
Sajche Meza was arraigned and issued a $10,000 surety bond with a no-contact order for the victim.
