(NewsNation) —A federal grand jury in New York will be hearing new evidence in the case against Sean “Diddy” Combs on Thursday which could lead to a superseding indictment.

NewsNation has confirmed that a grand jury in the Southern District of New York will be hearing new testimony from a male regarding Combs’ investigation.

It is unclear if the testimony will be in front of the same grand jury or a new one.

Attorney Ariel Mitchell-Kidd confirmed the witness is her client, reported NBC News.

Mitchell-Kidd and attorneys for Combs did not immediately return a request for comment by NewsNation.

Any new evidence could potentially result in a superseding indictment which could add more charges.

Combs pleaded not guilty to federal sex trafficking charges contained in an indictment unsealed the day after his Sept. 16 arrest. Charges include allegations he coerced and abused women for years, aided by associates and employees, and silenced victims through blackmail and violence, including kidnapping, arson and physical beatings.

He has remained incarcerated pending a May 5 trial after two judges denied bail in rulings being appealed to the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

New charges, evidence or additional defendants in his investigation could delay his court date.

Combs has been at the center of a storm of controversy and legal troubles where multiple individuals have come forward with allegations of sexual assault against him, leading to a series of lawsuits.
