(NewsNation) — Lori Vallow appeared in an Arizona court as the “Doomsday Mom,” already sentenced to life in prison in Idaho, faces additional charges.
A judge scheduled the next pretrial hearing for Apr. 24, 2024, at 8:30 a.m. and Vallow waived her right to appear on that day.
Vallow is facing two counts of conspiracy to commit murder in Arizona for allegedly planning to kill her ex-husband, Charles Vallow, and attempting to kill Brandon Boudreaux, the former husband of one of her nieces.
Vallow was extradited to Arizona from Idaho, where she is already serving consecutive life sentences for the murders of her children, Tylee Ryan and J.J. Vallow, and conspiracy to commit murder in the death of Tammy Daybell.
Vallow became known as the Doomsday Mom in the case as she began espousing strange, cult-like beliefs after she met her fifth husband, Chad Daybell.
The couple shared apocalyptic beliefs related to the Mormon faith and believed people were categorized as light or dark based on their spiritual connection to Jesus Christ or Satan.
Tylee and JJ disappeared in September of 2019 and were later found buried in shallow graves on Chad Daybell’s property in 2020.
The couple were also connected to a string of suspicious deaths, including that of Charles Vallow, Lori’s ex-husband, Alexander Cox, Lori’s brother and another person implicated in the death of Charles Vallow, Brandon Bordeaux and Tammy Daybell.
Vallow was found guilty in the deaths of her children and Tammy Daybell, with prosecutors arguing that she killed the younger children in order to embark on a new life with Chad Daybell. They argued the couple conspired to kill Tammy Daybell for the same reason, that she was standing in the way of their relationship.
The couple’s religious beliefs also became a focus of the trial, with friends stating Chad Daybell believed Tylee and JJ had become “zombies” due to dark energy and that may have led to the decision to kill them.
