(NewsNation) — While playing his electric cello, a woman struck a New York City subway musician using his metal water bottle.

The woman who had eight prior arrests was arrested again but subsequently released without bail.

Surveillance footage and multiple onlookers captured the moment when the woman approached Iain Forrest, picked up a metal water bottle, and struck him in the back of the head with it, last month.

In a Sunday interview on “NewsNation Prime,” Forrest expressed gratitude for the support he received from the New York Police Department (NYPD) and social media users who helped identify the attacker.

“It’s kind of difficult for me to process…not just the initial injury…but also how to carry forward in the safest way possible,” Forrest who is also known as his stage name “Eyeglasses,” said.

Forrest’s assault is not an isolated incident, as the NYPD reported transit crime in the city has seen a 46% increase year-to-year, reflecting a broader trend of rising violence in urban areas nationwide.

Reflecting on the ordeal, Forrest shared his difficulty in processing the attack and its aftermath, especially considering it was his second assault in less than a year. Despite the challenges, Forrest remains resilient, drawing strength from the support of friends, family, and fans, affirming his commitment to continue sharing his music.

“I’m never going to give up music even if that means I’m not performing in the subway,” Forrest said.

As the investigation unfolds and concerns over public safety persist, Forrest urges the community to come together and support each other. Meanwhile, he encourages listeners to engage with his music, emphasizing the power of art to unite and heal in the face of adversity.
