LYNDHURST, Ohio — An Ohio woman accused of stealing from a cancer fund for her former boss has been indicted on numerous charges accusing her of stealing about $40,000.
A Cuyahoga County grand jury Tuesday indicted Stacie LaRiccia on five counts, including charges of grand theft, theft, theft in office, tampering with records and receiving stolen property.
The indictment states that LaRiccia is accused of taking $36,668 from “Michael Fording and/or the Fording Family.” That money was raised as part of a fundraiser to help Fording and his family with medical bills.
Fording was a beloved principal at Brush High School and died of cancer in November.
Lyndhurst Police Detective Lt. Michael Scipione told NewsNation affiliate WJW he began investigating the case in January.
The indictment further states that LaRiccia is accused of stealing $4,135 from Brush High School between August 17, 2023, and March 15, 2024.
She’s due in court soon to face the indictment.
