(NewsNation) — The father of slain 12-year-old girl Polly Klaas says he working to “inform the public” and victims’ families of a change of law that could let his daughter’s killer off death row.

Richard Allen Davis was convicted of murdering Polly after kidnapping her from a sleepover in 1993. Polly’s father, Marc Klaas, now worries that a change in California law could buy Allen a sentencing hearing. Sentence enhancements that played a role in landing Allen on death row could be taken away, he fears.

Klaas joined “CUOMO” on Friday, saying his goal is to “inform the public and let them know the kind of shenanigans going on in our criminal justice system right now.”

He now worries thousands of victims’ families could find themselves in a similar position.

“The question is: If Richard Allen Davis — one of the most reviled people in the California prison system — qualifies for a resentencing hearing, then who in the world else qualifies for a resentencing hearing? And it turns out there are 9,500 of these goons,” Klaas said.
