Comedian Bill Maher said he thinks former President Trump is going to lose the 2024 presidential election in November on his HBO show on Friday.
“Tonight, I’m saying, I think it’s over,” Bill Maher told political commentator and GOP pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson and former Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) on “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
“I just think he’s going to lose,” Maher added.
Maher added he believes he has the credibility to make this prediction because he had previously been labeled a “Trump alarmist” and was convinced the former president still had a chance even after the “Access Hollywood” tape where Trump bragged about groping and kissing women without their consent was released.
Soltis Anderson was quick to oppose Maher.
“I do not share your confidence in knowing how this is going to go,” she said.
She argued that, setting polls aside, Trump’s power is in the fact that voters know him and his policies, so he’s still able to hold his own.
“You look at these battleground states, they’re still 50/50,” she said.
Polling from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ shows Harris leading Trump by less than one percent in battleground states like Michigan and Pennsylvania.
But Maher wasn’t convinced.
“It’ll be tied on Election Day,” said Maher. “The polls will be tied and then he’ll lose. That’s my prediction.”
National polling averages from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ show Harris leading Trump, 49.5 percent to 46 percent.
