(NewsNation) — New York society was scratching their heads this summer when Mollie Ruprecht Acquavella — the daughter of former Sotheby’s CEO William Ruprecht and wife of storied art dealer Alexander Acquavella — was seen on vacation in Europe with Eliot Sumner, Sting and Trudie Styler’s nonbinary child (who used to go by “Coco” when growing up).
“They (Mollie and Eliot) are together and in love,” a source told me.
Another social type said, “It’s been going on for a while now.”
A friend of the couple said, “(The dissolution of Mollie and Al’s marriage) is a sad situation, but it could be a lot worse, and they are still very close.”
Mollie and Alexander were married in 2015 in a lavish, three-day wedding in St. Barth’s that was covered in Vogue. It was a marriage made in art heaven, and the couple met at an event at Sotheby’s years prior while Mollie’s father was in charge of the auction house. They have two young children and are said to be prioritizing them during this difficult period.
Sumner, an actor and model who starred in Netflix’s “Ripley,” previously dated model Frankie Herbert before falling for Ruprecht Acquavilla.
When called for comment, Alexander confirmed he and Mollie are in the process of a divorce and said, “(Mollie and I) are very good friends, and it’s an amicable situation. … We both want the best for each other and the children.”
