Olive oil in your coffee? You can try it at Starbucks now
(KSWB) — Would you try olive oil in your coffee? Now is your chance, as Starbucks is rolling out its new Oleato drinks in the United States and Canada starting Tuesday.
The olive oil beverages debuted in February 2023 at the Starbucks Reserve Roastery Milan and in Starbucks stores in Italy. Now they are available at stores in the U.S., Canada, London, Paris, Osaka and Tokyo.
The Oleato drinks are infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil.
The new drinks include Oleato Golden Foam Iced Shaken Espresso with Toffeenut, which is a Starbucks Blonde espresso with toffeenut flavor and oatmilk, topped with Oleato Golden Foam; Oleato Caffè Latte with Oatmilk, a Starbucks Blonde Espresso Roast with oatmilk, infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil, and Oleato Golden Foam Vanilla sweet cream infused with Partanna extra virgin olive oil.
Customers can also customize their favorite drink by adding Oleato Golden Foam.
The origin of Oleato began in Sicily when Starbucks founder Howard Schultz was introduced to the daily Mediterranean custom of having a spoonful of olive oil, as detailed by the company. He then had the idea to try them together.
The coffee chain also recently launched its winter menu with the new Iced Hazelnut Oatmilk Shaken Espresso, Pistachio Cream Cold Brew, Pistachio Latte, Potato, Cheddar & Chive Bakes and Vanilla Bean Custard Danish.
