(NewsNation) —Jennifer Lopez appeared on “The Wendy Williams Show” in 2015, when the actress’ mom reacted negatively to the idea of her daughter and former boyfriend Sean “Diddy” Combs reconciling. Nine years later, the video interview with Wendy Williams has resurfaced in the wake of Diddy’s arrest on charges of racketeering and sex trafficking.
“The last time you were here, I was telling you that I could always see you getting back with Puffy in a little way,” host Wendy Williams told Lopez in the interview, which has been posted to YouTube. “Or, in my mind, getting together permanently,” Williams continued.
Combs has gone by the names Puff Daddy, Puffy and P. Diddy throughout his career before settling on Diddy.
While J-Lo laughed and smiled at the suggestion, her mother had a much different reaction. Cameras on set panned to Guadalupe “Lupe” Rodriguez, who appeared more serious, throwing her hands up in a way to suggest she did not approve of the idea.
Viewers can see her mother mouthing the words, “It’s done.”
“All right, so no Puffy,” Williams backed down, with Lopez confirming it wasn’t happening at the time.
The pop star and rap mogul dated from 1999 to 2001. The two were arrested together after fleeing the scene of a nightclub shooting in New York City toward the beginning of their relationship.
When her daughter, 30 at the time, was arrested in connection to the shooting, Rodriguez showed up to the precinct where Lopez was being held and yelled at her in Spanish, the New York Post reported. A former NYC police detective recalled her mother yelling, “I told you not to get involved with [him],” per the Post.
Lopez has not commented on Diddy’s recent arrest, but some speculate her divorce from her current husband Ben Affleck is the result of leaked tapes involving Lopez and Diddy.
Former record executive and convicted felon Suge Knight claims, in his prison podcast, the FBI may have confiscated tapes from the raids on Diddy’s mansions earlier this year, with Lopez in some of them.
“They go raid Puffy’s house, and they get all these videos of J-Lo doing this and J-Lo doing that,” he said, recalling her involvement in the 1999 nightclub shooting.
“I’m quite sure they headed for divorce because that’s a man who had a good life. … Ain’t tripping off paparazzi, he’s living his life. He got his own team. She done brought all that extra s— out, and now, that m———, he want out,” Knight said.
Knight’s claims come after months of rumors about Affleck and Lopez’s split.
