Ben Affleck given tapes of Jennifer Lopez from Diddy raids by FBI: Suge Knight
- Knight says the tapes are the reason for their rumored divorce
- The tapes show J-Lo's involvement in 1999 shooting, Knight says
- Affleck and Lopez reportedly trying to sell their Beverly Hills mansion
Editor’s note: Here’s the latest on the Diddy investigation. Jennifer Lopez filed for divorce from Ben Affleck in August.
(NewsNation) — Former record executive and convicted felon Suge Knight believes the rumored impending divorce between Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck is the result of Lopez’s appearance in tapes the FBI seized in the raid on Sean “Diddy” Combs’ homes.
In a new episode of his prison podcast, “Collect Calls with Suge Knight,” Knight claims the FBI may have confiscated tapes from the raids on Diddy’s mansions earlier this year, and some of them include Lopez.
“They go raid Puffy’s house, and they get all these videos of J-Lo doing this and J-Lo doing that,” he said, recalling her involvement in the 1999 nightclub shooting where Moses “Shyne” Barrow took the fall for the music mogul. “And they know the fact that J-Lo lied and said that the gun was Shyne’s or whatever and sent that man to prison, destroyed his life, and she knew it was Puffy’s.”
The former Death Row Records CEO, who is serving time for a fatal hit-and-run in 2015, says Affleck is now in possession of those tapes and that the information on them has played a crucial role in straining the couple’s relationship.
“I’m quite sure they [FBI] probably called,” Knight said on his podcast. “It’s a white man who got respect in the white world. I’m quite sure they said, ‘We want to show you some things about your wife.’”
Diddy and Lopez dated from 1999 to 2001, and Rolling Stone recently reported that he tried to get her back after they broke up. Over the last several months, Diddy has been accused of sexual assault and other crimes which allegedly took place around that time.
Knight’s claims come after months of rumors about Affleck and Lopez’s split. Affleck has reportedly already moved out of their $60 million Beverly Hills home, which TMZ reports the couple is quietly trying to sell.
“I’m quite sure they headed for divorce because that’s a man who had a good life. … Great parents don’t spend a lot of money. Ain’t tripping off paparazzi, he’s living his life. He got his own team. She done brought all that extra s— out, and now, that m———, he want out,” Knight said.
Affleck and Lopez first started dating in 2002 after starring in the movie “Gigli” together. They planned to get married in 2003 but called it off and then broke up in 2004. After going on to marry and have children with other people, they eventually reunited and got married in 2022.
Meanwhile, Lopez’s career hit a rough patch with her first studio album in 10 years, “This Is Me…Now,” debuting at No. 38 on the Billboard charts in February before quickly falling. In May, she canceled her “This Is Me…Now/Live” tour after a report of poor ticket sales. Live Nation released a statement saying Lopez was canceling the tour to “be with her children, family and close friends.”
