(NewsNation) — Johnny Depp has a new lease on life after winning his defamation battle with Amber Heard in 2022 — and celebrated by getting a whole set of (costly) new teeth.
Johnny Depp’s new smile
The actor was spotted at a bar in the Bahamas this week showing off his new smile — documented by a local bartender, Rap Rap Zoilo, who wrote under his handle @killerbartender: “’jacksparrow meets the killerbartender of exuma bahamas … once in a lifetime moments with mr Johnny Depp.”
(Depp used to own his own island in the Bahamas, Little Halls Pond Cay, which he sold to “Harry Potter” author J.K. Rowling in 2016 for $75 million, but still frequents the area on a regular basis.)
But what fans really noticed were Depp’s sparkling new teeth — a far cry from the stained, rotting chompers he has shown off for years.
The price of celebrity smiles
And it cost him. According to Dr. Steven Butensky, a top prosthodontist in New York City with many celebrity clients, a full mouth of veneers would have cost Depp a total of $57,000, or $2,850 per tooth.
“Johnny probably spent $60-80K including his back molars,” Butensky, who does not treat Depp, said.
However, “if his teeth were rotten then he would have had extractions and implants. When teeth are rotting then implants are needed and maybe even a root canal to save the tooth if possible,” Butensky said.
If that’s the case, the cost would have been over $100,000 as “implants cost $3K each and can go up to $6K inclusive of the surgical procedure.” A piddling cost for a man worth $150 million.
