(NewsNation) — At 96 years old, a beloved Boca Ratan, Florida, volunteer has spent the past 15 years helping feed the hungry in his community and inspiring everyone he meets.
Art Polacheck, a Boca Helping Hands volunteer, told “Morning in America” Monday that after retiring, he still “had some fire in my furnace” and wanted to devote his time to helping his community.
“I leave here with a wonderful feeling that I’ve done something valuable, that I’ve certainly provided some purpose to my life. I’m just delighted to be here,” he said.
Polacheck added that “the comradery of the other volunteers” is his favorite part of volunteering.
He encouraged other retirees looking for more things to do in their spare time to keep moving.
“The one thing that I’ve been told by others, and I will pass this certainly along to you is don’t ever stop moving. Constant movement is so important,” Polacheck said.
